[Web 2.0] Languages and Framework

No Gravatar

Lately I began to take a look at various frameworks for developing web applications (especially extjs ..) and to evaluate various languages on which to studicchiare to in the near future ..

I would really like to hear the views and proposals of those who read these pages (by chance surely P ) And of what language to focus both on what framework you think is a good compromise at the time ..

As a good Java programmer, I have enough experience with JFS (JSP Model 2), JSP (Model 1) & servlets and other frameworks for the web in this language (both from the part of View for the Model and Controller) but I wanted to expand the po 'experience with other solutions.

I thought of PHP (with whom I have a little 'experience but not too much) for the server side and javascript for the framewok View ... or to explore solutions in Ruby on Rails ...

If you have any suggestions (language \ framework \ guides or references) and there goes us know you do me a great pleasure!

PS: If you respect the view you have to recommend a framework that allows AJAX functionality (there are many and extjs is great even if the documentation is short ...) I certainly do not lament ;)

  1. Hello,

I can recommend what I use: PHP (5.2.x) with Zend Framework.
For the "ajax", ZF from 1.5 integrates Dojo, but I prefer jQuery. In any case it is flexible enough to incorporate what you want.

The official manual is discrete (like I give a 7 rating), although some things could be improved.
There is an excellent tutorial Akrabat (http://akrabat.com/zend-framework-tutorial/) who is also writing a book on ZF, and another of Maugrim (http://blog.astrumfutura.com/ ) that explains the basics to advanced concepts such as writing a blog.
